KEY THINGS TO CONSIDER

REQUIREMENTS

Before applying, make sure you meet these basic qualifications. All requirements must be met before starting CVE Training.

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to provide proof
  • Must possess a valid Driver's License
  • Must be at least 20 years old
  • Must hold a High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution

  • Must pass a comprehensive criminal background investigation
  • No felony convictions
  • Must pass a polygraph examination
  • Must pass a pyschological evaluation
  • Must pass a drug screening

  • Must pass a physical fitness test to Georgia Department of Public Safety standards
  • Vision: Minimum 20/60 uncorrected in each eye, correctable to 20/40 or better with glasses or contacts
  • Must meet requirements for P.O.S.T. certification by the Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training Council

TRAINING & EDUCATION

A Cadet is an individual without a P.O.S.T. Certification. A Cadet will attend Basic Law Enforcement Training to obtain a P.O.S.T. Certification. Upon completion of Basic Law Enforcement Training, a Cadet will be promoted to CVO 1. A CVO 1 will then attend the next scheduled Commercial Vehicle Officer School.
